Fixed up vac

Thanks for your advice on bringing my grandpa?s tractor back to life. Thanks John Saeli for all of your help and parts. I?m almost done. About 230 hours in the last 5 weeks. New piston rings, sleeve, new pto gears , rear engine seal, torque tube bearings and seals , new wiring, water pump, coil, plugs, new gauges paint and decals. Gave it the expensive clear coat too.

Wow! That is a ton of work for 5 weeks. I remember your first post about this tractor and guys were dogging you about your lack of experience with engines and tractors. I hope your laughing now!

Thanks guys. I pull a 300 gallon sprayer with my vac cases. This one is my grandpa?s. The other one is in it?s work clothes. I even made up a foam marker to help with applying pre- emergent herbicide. During this project my snow plow tractor Oliver 88 tore the camshaft and oil pump gears. I had to drop everything and pull the engine and replace the camshaft. The guys on the Oliver form helped me through that. I?m lucky to have down time in the winter. I?m looking forward to maple syrup season. Get a break from turning wrenches. The plus side of all this, is I got to spend a lot of time with my dad. He really gets a smile on his face seeing the tractor he grew up on all fixed up. I think he always wanted to fix it up, but never got around to it. I?m sure that?s why he and his brother gave it to me. Take care guys thanks again for your help.

Very nicely done. I see that you have some engineering drawings pined on the shelf in the back ground. Must be you have some young engineers.

Ha ha ha! On the drawings pinned up. Yea I have two boys. They both help me in the shop. The 5 year old is the artist with the pictures. He is nuts about tractors and farming. when he gets bored he draws me tractor pictures and makes me hang them up. My handle on here is young tractor. I?m pushing 40 now. I?m going to have to change my handle some day.

I hope mine looks that nice when it is done. I was lucky. I bought a tractor that was lightly used through it's life. No leaks, no odd noises, doesn't seem to use oil. I just have to not screw up the painting of it.
