Well I did put a thin layer of rtv on the gasket for the governor..However as I was looking at the gaskets on the tool box I found another gasket that looked fairly similar..just a bit wider...I put the distributor gasket on the governor that was in the gasket kit..I cant imagine why it leaked. So I put the correct gasket on with a generous application of rtv..no more leak. Drained the hydraulic fluid and was able to free the valve by hand. Now the lift arm go up and down. Finally done with it. Now time to sell it. Hopefully it goes to a good new home.

Anybody who kicks out 4 to 5 hundred $s for it you can well bet its goin to a good home------------------------------------------------------------wink you and Mark did a nice job, now ya got to do a Gray one.

Lol. Yes we've got the early 40 waiting to be done. I acquired almost new 32" rears for it this summer. That one might wait a bit to get done that one will be a very long project. It will be getting a professional paint job and most likely engine rebuild. I'm not even sure of the engine is free on it. We might do the 51 with sherman next. Gonna take some time off after Saturday to do some fishing and picking mushrooms

Thank you. It is but we knew from the beginning we planned to sell it. I may have to stick a new oil gauge in it the original in it sticks a little bit.

Hope not. Simple mistake. Glad it was
something stupid. $3500 firm on the price.
I should have listed it for more. People
list beat up wore out 8n's for that price
here but I like to be fair. Any implements
that sell with it will be extra

I quit using gaskets on the N governors years ago when RTV was perfected. Lot less chance of leaking. The gaskets allow the weak aluminum housing to be warped when torquing the bolts down. The RTV allows the aluminum to be in contact with the timing cover and over torquing is not a factor.

Lol...I'm taking a break to get some other
stuff done. Need to finish painting the
boat so we can fish this summer. Boat never
made it in the water last summer. Too busy
chasing tractors around.

If I remember right the timing cover on this one is not aluminum. Its cast. Serial # 80,000 (not exactly that # but in that range) I did apply a generous amount of rtv on the correct gasket last night.

Cast iron doesn't bend much. It simply breaks so only silicone glue is still a better idea.
