Flail Mower HP Requirmentes

I am thinking about buying a 92 inch JD 390 flail mower at an upcoming auction, and I was wondering if my JD 720 D or my JD 730 gas tractor has enough HP on the pto to run that size flail mower through thick grass and brush?

I currently use a 6 foot Woods rotary mower, but I am tired of leaving lines of uncut grass because of my tires matting down the grass. From what I have read and seen on videos, a flail mower will pick up and cut flattened grass.

I used a 7' flail behind my JD 530 gas for mowing pastures back in the day. Had to drop down to lower gears for heavy (3'tall) grass but otherwise did fine. Stick with a rotary for mowing brush.......

Looks kike the 720 is 65 hp, from What I looked up. My 4 cylinder JD 401B is around that same HP. I have a 7 1/2 flail mower. My JD pulls it just fine. I find in green weeds the tires will lay the weeds down. I still see some weeds pop back up, but not like my woods 6 FT. did. If the weeds are dry they stay down. The only time I use my woods is if there is a chance of rocks. Stan
