Flail mower

I just picked up a free Ford Dearborn flail mower. I expected the cutters to be fairly large and heavy, but on this mower they are very light. it also has a roller behind the flails. Does this mean that this one is pretty much for mowing lawns as opposed to pastures and overgrown ground?

The Flail mower I have has cutters that are not all that heavy but will cut small tree with out any problems. They do not look to be any heavier then the ones on a Mott Flail mower I have

The rear roller is how you adjust the height of cut

We have this Mott, the flails are only about 1/8 thick and 5 inches long, I got new ones from Flail-Master. The guy that gave
it to us called it a corn stalk chopper.
