I purchased a sears and roebuck 241.1000 hammer mill and I was anybody knows which way it turns clockwise or counter clockwise ?
Where is the best place buy a belt ?
How long does the belt needs to be ?

As the feed slides in the mill the hammers force it thru the screen.

Post a picture of this set up. We have nothing really for info here. Using a belt as long as possible is best. I use a 100 ft endless belt on a grain crusher. It’s about 8 “ wide. Gotta look at old farm sales for a used belt.

If it has a blower on it like most do, as does the one in this video, the direction it turns should be fairly obvious. The one in the video is turning CCW looking at the pulley on the unit. S & R hammer mill video
The units were apparently built under the David Bradley name.

Some of the models had an arrow on the side of the drum on the pulley side indicating rotation direction.
As long a belt as possible and a crossed belt if possible. Some tractors that had belt pulleys mounted over PTO shaft, the pulley could be installed to the left or right giving different belt directions to utilize a crossed belt.

A crossed belt will work the best. My IH mill ran in the correct direction with a crossed belt with my H FarmAll and a JD A. It had an arrow and a speed recommendation painted on the side.

A used round baler belt or two can be utilized if trying to save $$.
