Flat tire update

I want to thank everyone for their help. YT members have been a great help and resource for
issues with the 4010. Your help is much appreciated.



I borrowed a battery powered impact driver and socket from a friend. His sockets must be much
higher grade than mine because they did not slip. But the impact driver just chattered without
turning the socket. So: I got my 1/2 inch drive bar and cheater bar to use with his socket



The wheel turned the socket didnt turn and the tire and inner tube did not turn! I have the
front axle blocked so the wheel would not sit on the tire.



If I had thought about the wheel turning I would have put air in the tire.



I have learned a lot about how to deal with the old tractor. So I will not make that mistake again.
I will make a different mistake!



Addendum: I also applied some heat with a borrowed torch. I didnt get the wheel super hot.
Only heated it for about 30 seconds or so.

Are we to guess if you have it off or not? If not, let the front end down so the weight is on the wheel and try it again. Did you pound straight in on the head with a heavy hammer as suggested? Sometimes with an impact wrench try tightening as well as loosening to get it started.

Sorry. Nope the tire is not off yet. The front axle is sitting on blocks so I will have some work to
do to get the front axle off the blocks.



I had simply put blocks under the axle after putting air in the tire to keep the wheel from
compressing the tire. My plan was to get the bolts loose, air up the tire, put a jack on the blocks
to get the tire off the ground. Then off to the tire shop.



Yes I did pound on the bolt head. I tried tightening and loosening the bolt.



Right now I am sitting in my deer box waiting to see if Bucky wanders by. The tractor is right
behind the box. When I feel the need to stretch my legs try again to loosen the bolt again.



$160 for the local tire company to come out and fix the tire.

Now that you've found a socket that will hold borrow a Milwaukee cordless impact wrench and unscrew the *^%#@& bolt!

I know. Tire changing 101 loosen lug nuts before jacking tire off ground.

When the impact wrench didnt work I just grabbed the drive bar. Didnt think about the wheel turning. Now the air valve stem is someplace inside the wheel.

Yes, when one has tired of pleading ''please come loose'' it's time to go and grab the Milwaukee!

30 seconds with the torch didn't even get the bolt warm let alone hot enough to loosen it. Try it again and when you spit on it and it sisals then it is hot enough.

Yep. If it's the big 1/2 fuel 18v
it's coming out or wrung into!
Either way the wheel is off.

Success! After adding more penetrating oil I sat in the deer stand for about 3 hours. Tried again, set impact wrench on tighten for about 5 seconds. Set wrench for loosen and the bolt was out before I could pull my finger off the trigger.

I think the main take away is that quality tools makes a huge difference especially in difficult situations. The socket I was using on what I thought of as a rounded head didnt slip a bit. I did have to knock the bolt out of the socket because it was stuck.
