flathead for a G

Does anyone have a flathead off of an unstyled G. I was told that putting a flathead oh this 53 G would really help me make more power for the tractor pull.

1500 should get ya one then rebuild it new gaskets and labor probably $2200. there are other better options that dont include new head gasket twice a year.Paul

A Murphy's head quite possibly won't be any more expensive that buying an unstyled head and then paying to have it rebuilt. On top of that you get a brand new everything, and it will flow better than an unstyled head unless it's had a lot of time/money spent on it. Get the manifold to go with it. Mike

The flat head has to be pinned to prevent flexing and head gasket failures.
It will cost less and work better to obtain a new head with compression and high flow ports.
