float setting on a 1956 model60

Does any one know what the float setting is on a 60 J.D. the last few times I have started my tractor it runs like the float is stuck open and fills the shop with black smoke I removed and cleaned the carb but noticed the float hangs very low any ideas?

I had the same symtems on a 420. Found I had to adjust the load adjusting needle valve. Cleared the smoke up after I turned it in a bit. Hope this helps, Mike
