I think maybe the float setting is the problem I'm having but don't know how to adjust without a guage, does someone know another way of checking, the reason I think this it will only run with choke out, , thanks in advance

Yes sir I have gone through it twice, I did adjust the float, which I guess it worked, don't have to have choke out now, still backfires a little bit when I give it full throttle while driving down my little road, but still waiting on new wires plugs and d cap and such, hopefully it just needs a little more tuning to get back like it was, I have been using a little sea foam to help maybe clean out everything some, it may have been a little trash in it somewhere I could not detect, at least I'm making a little progress, thanks for of the replys

I don't have a timing light, just trying to set it by ear. Is there a better way? Without the heat shield by the fuel bowl gas was getting way to hot, looked like it gas was boiling in fuel bowl, my parts came in late yesterday, so will change out plugs points and wires today reinstall heat shield and try again . I will asked around and see if I can round up timing light, and see what happens, thanks for your input.
