floor jacks

Well what are you looking for?? A small easy to handle one or a big one for a shop like you see in the tire shops??? How many ton you thinking. All that comes into play when looking for and asking questions about. The best one will be the type used in the tire shops and maybe brands like Snap-On or Walker but you also pay the price for the name

looking for a good jack for the shop for cars pickups up to semis. I know one is not always going to do every job but I'm tired of grabbing a jack that won't work

otc makes good stuff but you'll pay for it. check with a hydraulic repair place and buy what they sell then you'll have someone to service it.

I went looking for a good floor jack a couple months ago. I found the jack with the best reviews was an Arcan 3.25 Ton capacity floor jack that is being sold by Costco.

The floor jack that Sam's Club sells had really poor reviews, as well as a few other brands (including Sears).

The Arcon jacks are made in China, but they must be made to Arcon specifications so they are a good jack. Arcon has a website that you can check.

If your wanting one for a big rig (semi) your talking a 5 ton at the very smallest and even then that might not cut it on all of them. For semis I stick to a bottle jack no way I would use a floor jack on one of them. BTDT and a retired truck driver and still have 4 10 wheel trucks here and a couple trailers to go behind

(quoted from post at 10:48:15 01/02/13) Most if not all napa jacks are made in China. There so called
"professional " series are made in china.

Oh well, I sure like my 2 ton.

A few years ago, I looked at NAPA's jacks, then went across the street to Harbor freight. Harbor freight's looked like, were built like, same color, everything the same, except for the sticker on the jack and sticker price.

I asked Napa if they sold parts to rebuild their jacks, because I had a 20 year old China jack that was identical to one of theirs. Answer was NO!

If you are going to spend big bucks on a jack, first see if you can order parts to rebuild them.

I'm going to guess Napa's were made in the US.

I would look very close and find out where they are made.

Perhaps the box it came in was made in the US.

Im sure I will get some "heat" for this but I have 2 from Harbor freight. 1 I have had for more than 10 years. It works great and doesnt drop if left under a car overnight. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

I own two 2 1/4 ton low profile racing jacks and two 3 ton jacks, all from HF. Haven't had the first problem. For those who say they wouldn't crawl under anything jacked up with a HF jack. I say what makes the difference what jack you use? Only someone with a death wish would crawl under a vehicle supported by a jack. I use jack stands to support what I crawl under.

I have a 10 ton that I bought from Harbor Freight back when they only had one store in CA. About 30 years ago? Other than replace the return spring on the handle I have not had any problems with it. It rolls a bit easier than my 10 ton Walker jacks so it is the one I usually use when splitting tractors.

have 3 from HF, never any problem, use them often. 1 yr 3yr & 6yr old newest is alum low profile with a split handle i keep in my F350. It lifts it easy. have a Torin and a Sears (both 3 ton) both bent the side frame when lifting the truck. The 3 ton hf has been holding the rear of my tractor for 3 months and its still off the floor when HF has them on sale you cant beat the price

like stated, hein warner is pretty darn good. The snap on would be good as well. Lately I have been buying jacks from NAPA when on sale for $200. They are made in china but they are designed like the old NAPA Fleet jacks and are actually very nice. I try not to cheap out on things that could hurt me if they fail.
