fluid change

I drained the fluids in my t20 harry ferguson tractor. There were three drains in the belly of the tractor. How do I refill and with what?

Hi Mudgett

The oil cap you are looking fore is just left to the gear stick.
You will need about 5 gallons. Fill it slowly so the oil will settle in all 3 chambers.
Some say you should use GL1, others 15w-30, many say 15w-40. I use the latter, and it works great.

Did you drain the oil as you knew it had water in there or just wanted to? If you had water in there you should look in the archives and find the cleaning procedure by Jeff Oh. It is hard to get water out of there without spraying with something like kerosene to get it all out and it should drain at least overnight. If it is not clean you will contaminate the new oil. The TO 30 takes 6 gallons not positive what the TE 20 takes.

Fill through the oil filler alongside the Gear Lever. Only fill 2 gallons at a time and wait 15mins before adding next lot or it could overfill transmission and leak into Clutch. 6 gallons on all the TE20's and TO20/30's Use a multi-grade rather than a straight oil as they get too thick when cold. use 15W/30 or 15W/40 depending on what is available in your area. and the oil should be for a gasoline engine NOT a Diesel engine as it has too much detergent. There is no such thing as a T20 always use ALL the letter in the Prefix then everyone knows what you are talking about if you don't and you need info they will have to ask you what they are so that they can reply to you and that will only cause a delay. This comes from our lazy way of speaking in the UK....TE becomes T.....John
