Flywheel nut picture

The flywheel nut on the right is the one that my buddy who owns a machine shop made. It fits perfect and looks identical to the old one. (before I wrecked the old one taking it off) Most people on here were telling me to just buy a new one for $150. This one cost me a 12 pack of beer that was only $8! Sure pays to have friends that own and run a machine shop!

Not sure where you found them for $150. What model are you working on? If the original is a stamped model, they didnt really hold the flywheel on, they were more for setting the end play. Also they were made to be bent into the splines to lock in place.

I didn't find one for that much. I was told they were that much at the dealer still by many ppl on here. I know it dosn't hold the fly wheel. I know it's for setting the fly wheel end play. Your the 1st that said they were made to bend into the splines. I've taking them off before This one was stuck/rusted on. It's for a 51 A. And Shaun, why do you think that? Cuz he made me one for $8 or cuz some people told me they were $150?

Nice looking nut for the beer & $$"s.. My
Questions how do you plan to stake the nut
& keep it from baking off for proper crankshaft
end play.. If you do get it staked properly
what will the threads on the Nut & crankshaft
look like when this nut has to be removed again?
Crankshaft end play nut Doesn"t cost 150.00..
Plus from the looks of the old nut, you had
better pay clost attention to the flywheel
make super/double/triple sure it is TIGHT!.

I think they do serve a function to hold the fylwheel from walking off the crank and thus increasing end play.
He could easily turn a flange on there to serve as a portion to stake it in a groove.

Looks great and just another testiment to the exorbitant profits that some companies want to "harvest".
If the cost was about $8.00 for your buddy to make one, imagine how much cheaper they are when mass produced.
And their price is how much?

the first thing you need before you need any "ole" tractors is a machine shop. The North Vietnamese could reproduce weapons overnight, was reason we couldn't defeat them. One needs to know how to braze/weld cast and have a machine shop. First economic mistake made is going to the dealership.

Were you actually in Viet Nam and saw local small shop manufactured weapons defeat the U.S. Forces there? My brother who was there 2 1/2 years with the 101st Airborne Division has always said we had that conflict won, but then Congress and the peacenick American populace decided we'd better give the place away to the communists and deserted the brave Vietnamese people and military. Probably had figured we'd made about all the money there was to be made in the deal and bailed out. (This may sound crazy but it's no worse than that stupid claim you made).

I think he is saying that because of what you said:
The flywheel nut on the right is the one that my buddy who owns a machine shop made.

I am going to assume that you meant your guy made the nut on the left of the picture??????
