I have my firt ever tractor, it is a 1941 case dc serial # 4512825dc. I have replaced the starter and found that the flywheel is missing a lot of teeth. we broke the tractor in 1/2, got the flywheel off and now I am not sure if I just need ring gear or if it is a solid piece and I need a new flywheel. also I could use some help locating replacement parts, it has 112 teeth. thanks

Ring gear comes off. New one gets heated, then dropped in place for a "shrink fit".

Part # is O5565AB.

GOOGLE that number and you'll see LOTS of sources.

It's still available from FIAT, as well (for about $120.00).

thank you so much, I have been looking for days, I just didn't have enough info to find it. I really appreciate your help!!

Carefully work your way around and around with a large punch and hammer to remove it. Most of the time you can simply turn them over, heat it up till it drops on and let it cool. I have doon it dozens of times. I have never bought a new one.

that ring gear is available from many auto supply stores for one half to one third of case price. It's made by pioneere gear company. E mail me for more details

Your ring gear will probably only have heavy wear in one or two places.
Just like DKase I have always turned them over.
I mark the flywheel where the heavy wear areas are and make sure that when I flip it I rotate it away from these areas. The engine stops in the same place most of the time therefore most of the teeth will be worn in just one or two places.
I have 2 tractors in regular use that I did this to,one in 1993 and the other in 1999.

I have the ring off now, the teeth are broke off of a few places so turning it over is not an option, could you please tell me the best places to order a new one that does not cost an arm and leg! Thanks!!

I got new ring gear from O'rileys for $65, the part # for it is FRG112SF. it was much cheaper than anything I found that was for the tractor... we got it back on and it fit perfect... the only problem now is the rod bearings went out, any suggestions there??
