Welcome to the world of Ferguson.

Here are a few answers to the questions that came up in the posts below.

as answered, yes the PTO needs to be engaged to run the lift. There is a PTO cover available if you are not running a PTO implement. (See top picture, I have one available if you want it)

Also If you are running a mower, you NEED an Over Riding Clutch (OCR - see bottom picture) This device allows power from the engine to be delivered to the mower but does not allow the mowers momentum to drive the tractor. With out one the spinning energy in they mower WILL continue to power the drive wheels even with the clutch engaged. They run about $60.00 and are available at most farm stores. When Buying a OCR make sure you know your dimensions. They come in 1 1/8" and 1 3/8" input both are 1 3/8" output. post if you need clarification.

Third on the height of the mower you can do a few things. Set the mower per the Marlowe Method (Marlowe is one of the contributors here) or get/make a set of height chains. I've seen height chains for $30 to $50. I made mine for $5.00.

I made mine from 3/8" chain two 2 1/2 foot lengths 1 Shackle (picture 3) where the loop was big enough to fit my top link pin through, 2 quick links (picture 4), and two eye-bolts (Picture 5). I attached the Eyebolts to the mower, and attach the chain to the eyebolts with the quick links. The chain then runs up to the shackle and top link pin on the tractor. Works real nice.

Here is the starter switch. It mounts in a housing that is attached to the top of the transmission case and located under the battery.

If you remove the old one be sure to tie a string on the link of the rocker arm before you disconnect the link... (see picture 2) You do not want to fish it out of the transmission case. (see second picture)
