For those in the know

Howdy,

Well, I"ve been toying around with the idea of buying a good friend"s John Deere R for a while. He called me today to talk about it. Gave me a figure he"s asking for the tractor. He also said that he"d be willing to work with me since we"re good friends. My question is this: what do you all think a John Deere R set up for rice crops is worth? It has the 18.4x26 back wheels and all the brake and axle mud shields. It does need a good bit of work but it runs and the metal"s in good shape. Also, do you think these tractors carry a pretty good value? I already own one R and i know the general value of the standard issue models but not the ones set up for rice. Thanks and God bless.

i am not much in the know about the deere's, however, if i was gonna add a green one to the barn, that r is a pretty potent tractor. being a rice one to boot, i'm thinking its a little more on the rare side and prolly pretty desireable.the w series in red had the w-9 and the wr-9, along with the supers of em. i would venture a guess of 10-20% more for the rice version of the r.

If you already have an R, then you should know what you're getting into!

A rice R is really no different from any other R except for the tires and the mud guards.

What's he want for it? A good running R will bring upwards of 4500.
