i purchased a 1510 ford tractor, it was running when i went to look at it and seemed to run good and the price was right, but whe i got it to my place, it was hard to start. i took the glow plugs out and they are working, the engine has no blow by at all and seems to be in good shape. when you try to start it it puts out alot of white smoke until it starts and at high rpms it cuts out can anybody help with this problem

It sounds like you could have low compression. White smoke when you try to start it could be a sign of unburnt fuel. I would try a compression test. Also check the oil to be sure no water is in it and check the radiator for oil to be sure that the head gasket isn't leaking. My brother just picked up a 1510 with a blown head gasket and cracked block. Took him 2 weeks of hard looking to find an engine for it. Other parts are available at CNH.

You will need to preheat that tractor for 30-50 seconds at any cold start. Doesn't matter what the ambient temp is.

Get used to it my friend, that is the nature of the beast. The japanese Fords are an indirect injection diesel, I have a 1500 that I bought new in 1980. Have to preheat it on a 100Deg. day.Preheat it until the little Glow plug indicator(coil Spring) glows red, open the fuel half way and crank. It will start every time.
