Hi Wilson Walt,

What is Kirk is saying in valid and Tony is a great resource, you get find his contact information by searching these forums.

That said, what are you using your tractor for, is it shows or work? Parts for the 1801/4040 system will be seldom found in good working order and could be expensive (this was my experience anyway).
I have a 1841 with the original steering that I left lone but I don't use it for any type of work, the 4040 that I have was converted over to the newer style power assisted steering system that came on the 4140. With that conversion you will need a donor 4140 tractor or these parts from one, steering column, drag link, cylinder, brackets. I had the old lines but just had new lines made. I changed out the power steering pump as well because the psi rating was different between the two. But you can rebuild your PS pump to match the required psi(lower) rating of the 4140 system. The conversion was fairly straight forward. The brackets that connect the steering column to the loader are different between the 1801/4040 and 4140. There are also aftermarket setup I think one is made by Jackson. I have never used the aftermarket system but have read about them on this forum.
