ford 1920 not shifting

gettinthere

Help, I just bought this tractor (4wd) that the guy I bought it from said he would fix. He said that a bolt that attaches the gear selector on the right hand side to the transmission had sheared off and now that he replaced the bolt it only seems to shift into the two left side gears but not the right. He mentioned that he has moved something to "umpteen" positions and he still can"t get it to catch the other gears. Can you please help us figure out how to fix this?
Also the clutch is stuck to the flywheel as it is constantly moving with the clutch pedal halfway or all the way in. He said that the clutch only has about 40 hours on it, but the tractor is stored outside and was not used in a while. Tips?
Thanks, LR

G'day,
ive got a mate who replaced the clutch in his 5000. Ill ask him.you may have to break it in half to find out. the clutch stuck doesnt sound to good.
describe what the clutch is doing a little more. does it disengage at all or does it run constant, is there any resistance in the pedal???
its is all internal anyway so you may have to split it appart.

Hi, The tractor keeps on driving even when the clutch pedal is pressed in, the gear selector on the right hand side of the steering wheel only engages first and revers gears.
I thank you.

Ok it sounds like a release bearing or release fork or both related.

Have a look at the diagrams on this site to understand where the parts are.

if your going to attempt the job of fixing the clutch you may need help and tools.
The gear box issue is not related to the clutch because you can shift between only 2 gears. ive got i good idea whats wrong with the box but im the sort of bloke that will just take it apart until i find the broken part.

sounds like you wont be able to get around having to spit the girl in the middle. not sure about your model can you gain acess to the gearbox by taking of a plate on the top.

let us know how you.
