Did the Ford 2000 3cyl with up flow muffler use the straight throug design, or did they use the off set style sold by Stieners? Has anybody used the offset? Does it make too much back pressure? Less noise? Thanks all

The 3 cylinder 2000/3000/4000 models with the vertical exhaust originally all used the muffler with the straight pipe from the exhaust manifold up through the hole in the hood. I don't have any experience with the offset ones from Steiner's. Changes in back pressure and/or noise level would depend on the internal design of the muffler itself. Simple bends in the pipe shouldn't affect either by much if at all.

I have the offset type on my 4600, and my cousin has one on his 4000SU as well. Both are diesels, and flow a lot more air than a 2000. No problem with back pressure from either one.

Shouldn’t be a issue with either muffler on a 2000 or 3000, the off set is a little quiter
I run straight thru on my Fords, on both my 4000AP and 4000SU diesels I have experienced the off set mufflers being pushed up from the manifold under hard full throttle pulls, on 2 occasions it pushed the muffler completely off, this has not happened since changing the straight thru mufflers
