Ford 2000 exhaust change

On my '64 Ford 2000 I have the standard horizontal exhaust and need to replace the rusted out muffler I would like to know if I can install a vertical exhaust. I have a Ford front loader on it and am not sure if there will be interference. Anyone have info?

With the right tools, anything is possible. I have two '64 4000s with loaders. One uses the standard horizontal muffler with the commercially available elbow and vertical extension. The other uses a custom pipe in place of the muffler and elbow with the muffler mounted vertically. Both required drilling into the hood for mounting brackets that hold them to provide clearance for the loader, and both were that way when I acquired them. I just last week put the commercially available elbow on the standard muffler on my 801, and it would clear the loader too. I didn't want to drill holes in the hood on this one, so I just made up a short strap, drilled a hole in one end to mount at the generator bracket, then tack welded the other end to the pipe. (Not being an experienced welder, I had to build up a blob of weld to fill the hole burned through the pipe as soon as I touched it at too high amperage. Live and learn.) I'm told that having an old, original cast elbow would eliminate the need for all the customizing, but I've not been able to locate one. Good luck.
