Ford 2000 leaky injection pump

My '72 2000 with a CAV injection pump constantly drips fuel from around the throttle shaft, while running. It was fine until I was forced to use ULSD. Because of the low sulphur content I began adding Lucas to the fuel. My guess is it (the Lucas) cleaned out all the gum & varnish from around the shaft. I don't want to pay the big $ for a complete rebuild (as it runs ok, just leaks bad) Is there an "O" ring around this shaft that can be replaced from top, or am I doomed?

I'd me more inclined to suggest that something in the Lucas swelled the o-rings and CAUSED the leak... but to each their own. I don't believe all the talk about problems with ULSD and I burn plenty of it.

With regard to the pump, yes it's just an o-ring on the throttle shaft. If you want to try it, remove the pump and set it in a vice carefully. Remove the linkages from the top and the tamper seal, etc. Carefully remove the cover and NOTE the position of the govenor spring as it attaches to the cover and the pump body. There are multiple possibilities with regard to where it can be placed.
If it were me I'd probably send the pump out and have it gone through and checked anyway. They can renew all the seals with the proper kit and any other wear parts. They don't have to do a major overhaul unless you tell them to... I'd still expect to spend 5-600 bucks, but that's not as bad as 2 grand for a complete overhaul.
Anyhow, if you do this yourself I wouldn't suggest going any deeper into that pump than the top cover. You're asking for trouble without the specialized knowledge of those things...
