ford 2000 tractor tachometer drive cable

older model 2000 ford tractor, 4 cylinder gas burner. how do i get to the gear that the rmp cable goes into on the pump. we think it is wore out. already replaced the the rpm cable to the guage.

There is an adapter that the cable engages that just slips out. Maybe it slipped out. They are still available for $200.00 I would check with a salvage yard.
