The 3point on a Ford 2000 will go up and down with
noting attached but not with an implement attached.
I thought maybe a filter needed changed, could not find one. Any suggestions?
thanks

Ford made 2 different tractors that they called a 2000. The earlier one had a 4 cylnder engine and was made from 1963-1964 and the later one had a 3 cylinder engine and was made from 1965-1975. It always helps to let us know which one you have. I'm not sure on the earlier model, but on the later 3 cylinder model the filter is internal to the rear axle center housing, which is also the sump for the 3 point hydraulics. I think that the hydraulics on the earlier model had a separate sump and igf it even had a filter, it would be internal as well.

From the description of your symptoms I would guess that you've got a leak somewhere internal to the system though, and not a clogged filter. The filter on the later models was on the return line, and it had a bypass valve so that if it got clogged too bad the fluid would still flow.

Let us know which model 2000 you have and someone will be able to give you some tips on diagnosing the actual cause of the problem.
