Greetings N Forum Chums......Gonna repost a posting to the Ford forum....I know there is some cross over!!

Greetings Forum Chums!
Normally haunt the 2n..9n..8n.forum....got an 861 Diesel.....and an 8n Hi Crop....and a 45 2n....so ....my question.....going to an auction on the 7th.....I know the lady who owns a Ford 231....the tractor is pristine..tires also....low hours.....been wanting to add a higher power unit to the haying operation.....the 861 is tired and I need to rebuild her....in the interim....this tractor starts and runs like a sewing machine!!.....what think ye chums??....how much should I bid??....what is she worth....any and all input much appreciated!!

Dont know much about the ford 231. I have seen a good clean on go for $3000 here in Central Ohio last year at auction. It looked to be a 3 cylinder diesel. Not sure of the availablity of parts, you may want to check.

He also posted this on the Ford board and got a good reply from Sean in PA.
Think of a 231 as a 2600 with LCG (low center of gravity) front spindles and usually short, fat rear tires.
A 2600 is essentially a 3 cylinder 2000 with couple of refinements. Parts are readily available for them.
They are outstanding small tractors.
About 33 HP.

Anything under $3K would be a very good deal - depending on condition of course.
