I have a ford 231 which is about like a ford 2000 (three cylinder gas) When I try to engage the pto it will not engage and I have to shut tractor off to engage then restart, how do I adjust Thanks to all

If it has live pto it means your pto clutch is either stuck to the pressure plate or its about shot and needs replaced. Most likely the latter.
You can try adjusting the rod that goes from the pedal to the clutch arm. Tighten it up a little.
Had that same thing happen to me and ended up having to replace the clutch.
