Ford 2600 Electrical saga

OK I have most of wiring figured out on 2600 diesel (been converted to one wire , external reg alternator) with new inst. cluster. Cluster has fuel and temp guages, oil pressure, air flow, and alternator lights.
When I turn switch on, fuel guage moves up to about 1/2 tank(should be about 1/4 tank), temp hand does nothing, oil pres and air flow light comes on, no alt. light. When tractor starts guages stay about the same, all lights go off.
After running awhile, the 3 amp fuse behind cluster will shoot. Guages stay same, oil pres and air flow light goes out and a very weak alt light comes on. Also, when fuse is shot, It takes three or four trys to get solenoid to kick in to start tractor, just clicks each time until it finally turns her over. Any ideas?

alternator light is hooked to wrong wire and blowing fuse or the internal reg is shot in the alternator... so disconnect the small wire that goes from the alt warning light to the altnator..

if you cant find it, remove the alt warning light bulb..

retest to see if problem is then gone..

best guess at this time with info at hand.
