Ford 2600

I found a 1976 Ford 2600, 1310 hours, original paint, faded but in great shape, tires 90%, 3 cylinder deisel motor. It is a one owner tractor. This tractor has been taken care of. What is a tractor like this worth? Any comments about a 2600 will be appreciated, good or bad.

I currently have a 1952 8n and want to move up a bit in horsepower and hydraulics and pto.

It's going to price out like a similar 2000/3000 3cyl tractor.

it will have slightly updated hyds.

Figure 3500-4000-5000$ as a range.

I paid around 3500 for mine, its a gasser, 1100 hours, new front tires, rears ok but getting tired, power steering, paint not great, and a working front end loader. After having mine for 9 months I think I paid a little too much for it as I'm currentl currently re-wiring it, and replacing some seals in the power steering. I think its a solid machine but like many suffered from neglect. Seems a lot of owners do nothing as long as they start and run.

You might check to see if the gauge cluster is working, its a little spendy. Also ask if its ever leaked power steering fluid out from under the steering wheel, not a big deal but may want to ask.

By the time the 26/3600s came out most of them were coming from the factory with LPTO and PS. I'm assuming you have both?
The 2600 was a significant upgrade over the 2000.
It's more like a 3600 with heavier square rear axles, diff lock, etc plus twice the hyd output. About the only difference between the 26 and 36 is flow control and a few less HP. Possibly a lighter front bolster.
It is an excellent series - one of the best Ford ever built. They will eat an 8N's lunch and a Jubilee's desert. The steering seal is NBD IMO.
Just did one for a friend last week - half a Saturday and $20 in parts.
As to value, I'd say start at $4K and go up to $5.5K Yours may reach the higher end with the diesel, very low hours and good rubber.

It does have power steering. He is asking 6500.00 and I thought that was too high. It is a very nice tractor but I just dont think it is worth the asking price.

john, hobo said you could help me with my power steering on my 3000[2600 aparently the same] any photos or any tech tips on how to remove the steering shaft from the case would be appreciated.goin through it to replace all seals and o-rings,also the steering shaft needs polishing.i have the colume loose but can't remove it from the case.can you help me out?hobo said you had posted this already,but i can't find it...thank you,scott king 67'ford 3000

I paid 5K for my 2600 and I have never regretted it. It has PS, 8/2 gears, remote hyd, and 2100 hours.
