Ford 2910 starter removal

Remove neg cable from battery, all cables from top large post of solenoid, trigger wire on the spade connection. 3/8 drive 9/16" flex socket, 6" extension, ratchet. Remove top inside mount bolt using the aforementioned combination or something similar. Remove bottom outside bolt followed by top outside bolt while supporting starter. Remove from tractor. Reverse process to install.

I posted the combination of commonly available tools that I have used dozens of times to remove the top inside bolt. Right there in plain English. Probably not the only combination that works, but something that will get the job done.

I use a couple of wobble extensions... usually a 2.5" on the socket and a 6" attached to the first one on a flex head ratchet. If nothing else the one 6" wobble extension will work.
It's a very common NAPA/UltraPro tool made by (I think) SK.

i've never worked on a 2910.. but are they as bad as a 3000D with dual head filter? them starters are a PITA to remove.

same tool setup though. wobble extensions..e tc..

Same. Filter setups vary... Dual element jobs, IIRC, have to be removed to drop the starter on a 3 lunger.

The only dual filter heads I've dealt with on 3 cylinders were on 30 series tractors.... I can remember removing the filter housing on one or two... on others you get away with pulling the dipstick when it's found on that side. The only reason I ever removed the filters was to get clearance to actually get the starter off. Since it can't go ahead it has to come down and out to get the cone clear.

Yet one more reason to never own a 3000... Actually, I don't recall them being in the way of the starter on the 3000 I worked on a few years ago... but that was a single filter tractor too.
