Ford 3000 gear shift pin

Does the gearshift pin on a 3000 go all the way through the lever so you can drive it all the way through or does the pin just go into a dead hole? I can see one end of mine where it is knurled over but there is no sign of the other end
 
Problem solved, once I got a new pin the solution was quite obvious, drilled out the old pin and pressed in the new one
