Ford 3000 hydraulic question

I acquired a 1965 Ford 3000. Previous owner had hydraulic apart and tractor has not ran in a couple years. 1) Can I run engine without hydraulic oil in the sump? 2) Once I get all back together and try to start it should I prime the hydraulic system or will it prime on its own without harm?

1) Yes, but I wouldn't do it for very long, just long enough to move the tractor to where you need to work on it (i.e. a few
minutes).

2) If the system is completely empty, it will likely need an assist, as those pumps are not good at self-priming. There is a
bleed plug on the pump that you can remove to help get the air out of the system.
