Ford 3000 hydraulics

Hey everyone I have a 67 ford 3000 and I ve seen come gunk in my hydraulic fluid and I m wondering if I can drop the fluid and flush the system with something I ve heard of guys filling the hydraulics back up with diesel fuel and let it run for awhile then drop the diesel and fill it back with hydraulic fluid so is that safe? Or is there a better way to flush the system?

Some will say no but, i have used fuel for flushing systems many times with no problems. Drain the old oil
and water out fill with diesel get it warm operate all functions and drain out. Refill with the correct oil
and put it back to work.

I'd be inclined to do this process. Only thing I would do would be to have it parked, no implements on the 3 pt. and low rpms.....in short no stress that usually requires lubrication.

Where di you "see gunk"? It's common to get condensation in the fluid from sitting. Do the hydraulics work? Have you been using the tractor? If they work and you have been using it I would work the tractor and drain the fluid while hot.

I would say... unless the oil is white with emulsified water, just work it, get the oil warm, then drain and refill with new oil.
I've used diesel as well to flush, but that's generally when I'm pulling things apart and need to wash out a major sludge pile on
housings. I don't think I'd worry too much about just regular dirty oil. Drain it and refill.

So my 3 point and remotes work but sometimes they stop working and if I tap on where the position leaver goes into the top plate everything starts working again I didn t know if something inside was gummed up and a flush would help
