ford 3000 not charging

I had the generator tested and it was fine so I put a new voltage regulator on it and the light still does not go off. Does the new regulator need to be excited and what is the procedure for this ?

vreg does not need 'excitation' neither does the genny.. the genny needs polerzation.. however.. if it was tested ok.. it has been polarized.

retest it.

slip belt off, jumper battery to armature and field. genny should spin.

post back.

if it spins.. we will do a full field test.. then we will start tracing out wires..
