I did check the Disconnect for towing, that is working correctly

Are there filters under the tranny lid on this SOS? 1971 3000

Filter is inside a small cover on the left side of the trans. The filter, cover gasket I cover plate are numbers 25, 26 & 27 in the parts drawing at the link below:

The filter part number is 309735 and it includes the gasket. It should be available at any New Holland dealer, although they most likely won't have it in stock, but they should be able to get it in their regularly weekly parts delivery, which most dealers won't charge you shipping on if you're willing to wait.

You really should get an Operators Manual and a Service Manual for your tractor. Filter and fluid replacement is covered in the Operators Manual. Anything more advanced on that transmission is covered in the Service Manual and you shouldn't try to take on anything more than that filter without reading through the Service Manual, as if you start removing any other parts without following the proper procedures you can damage things or at the least, cause yourself many extra unnecessary hours of taking it completely apart to fix it.
