Ford 3400 help adding PTO

I have a 3400 with no PTO, I have the output shaft, fork, coupler, and handle assembly. out of a 3000. But, when I opened up the hydraulic cover I found I had a blank off cap, I removed it and it is a hollow shaft that runs up to the bell housing. how can I put a PTO on this tractor?
if this helps

34021C is a 3400 with a gas engine, no PTO and an 8 speed transmission.

Your 3400 came from the factory with no PTO. When they built them with no PTO they left out all of the parts that they could to save money, not just the parts inside the rear end.

If you still have access to the 3000 donor tractor, it would be easier to transfer the entire transmission and rear end from the donor tractor than to tear down both transmissions and transfer the necessary parts over.

If your transmission has the proper counter shaft (49) for trans pto you can get the pto counter shaft for trans pto (48), along with the bearings, seals and sleeve (64 thru 68) to have a working pto
If you want live pto it s best to find another transmission along with a flywheel and clutch assembly

Look inside the hole where the plug is and see if there are any splines inside the counter shaft
If there is item (48) C5NN 702 A is the shaft you need
If there are no internal splines your looking for another trans

Yep, I bought the pto whole shaft, fork, coupler, shift and lever out of a 3000 rear end. Guess I should have opened the lift cover
prior to the purchase. lol I ran a indoscope inside the shaft and looked with a mirror it is smooth all the way except there is a
groove on the inside that a measure tape gets hooked on about 8 1/4 from the back end of the transmission were your coupler would go
for the pto to connect. They do have the transmission already pulled from that same tractor, waiting to see if it is a single/two-stage clutch. They want $1000 for it, if that would work I guess it would be worth it, Im just not sure if it will?

So, are you saying I have to have the rear end also?? Thought the transmission would be enough with what i have already puruchased?

So, will I only need the flywheel if it is a two-stage clutch?
Can I use my existing clutch pedal?

Thanks for the help Destroked 450, My a problem isnt
doing the work its knowing what will work to get it done

Yes If the trans is setup for live pto get the flywheel to go with it
Also get the clutch assembly to use as a core trade in
You can use the clutch pedal you have but the rod and clevis may be different for the live pto, the clevis will have two pin holes

This photo is of my 4000 trans but one for a 3000 is similar, if the 3000 trans has two splines shafts in the clutch housing it has live pto, if it only has one shaft it is trans pto or no pto like yours

This is what the salvage yard sent me, so it should be a 72
all purpose, diesel with live pro and 8 speed. I just got this
confirmation today so now I will split the tracto to find out
what fly wheel and ring gear I have. Since mine is gas I hope
it will not cause problems. Will start Friday morning.

You ll have to change the flywheel starter ring gear
Gas engines use a finer tooth starter ring gear
You can use yours if it s not worn and needing replaced
