ford 3430 position control not working

Ford 3430... 3 point hitch is only getting response from draft control lever. Position control has no response. Linkage below the levers appears superficially intact, at least as far as the connection between the levers and the washers/discs with the pins at the base of the levers that are supposed to move when the lever is moved. The draft control lever will move the metal tube between the lever bases, the position control does not move anything but the threaded bolt on the very end that gives the levers tension. Looking for troubleshooting advice. Anyone experienced this?

Got some looks here but not much feedback. Just to add some detail... Position control lever does nothing at all. The hitch will raise if the draft control is put all the way up. It wants to go to maximum height so then the lever has to go down a bit to find the desired working height. However, even if the lever is no longer being adjusted we then have to pull the lever up slightly as the hitch drops (which stops it on the way down) or the whole thing will bottom out and we end up dragging whatever is on the hitch. Bad design? Operator error? It's worked correctly for years. The diagrams available on Messick's and other parts sites aren't offering much insight into the internal workings. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

Draft control has a significant effect on position control positioning. Not real sure I what I am about to say, but on some tractors there is a switch on the right side of the main frame, adjacent to the shafts mentioned that has 2 positions, one being/labeled position, the other draft. I don't remember if that is on 2 lever tractors or single lever, but you can look for the switch and see if you have it. If you do, It needs to be in the position control position if you aren't using draft function.

Also if the draft control is able to raise the 3 pt as you move the draft lever, move it in the opposite direction.....I think that's all the way down for position control to work properly.
