FORD 3550 cab

New to this probaly should have came to this forum I have a 3550 ford and found a cab for a 3000 does anyone know if it will fit my tractor

It will most likely fit... but may need some modifications at the rear. 3000 and 3550 are very similar, but the rear axle on a 3550 is considerably bigger.
That is not a Ford factory cab... it was made by an aftermarket company (very possibly Simms), and they are typically made so they will fit several models.

thanks for the help I have looked at other ford with cabs and they seem to be the same but was'nt sure only had it for a few months seems like a nice machine Ido have a couple of problems though it over heats probaly radiator also it shifts great most of time but every now and then I have shut it off to shift acts like clutch won't release any ideas as to why?

Which transmission dose it have? There were a couple of true manual transmissions with clutches that delivered power to everything. Then there was the auto reversing torque converter transmission with a forward/reverse handle to the left of the steering column that also had hydraulically controlled clutch packs for the forward/reverse function. Then there was the Select-O-Speed power shift transmission that had a pedal that worked in a similar fashion to a clutch pedal but was called the inching pedal and it controlled a hydraulic valve that supplied power to the shifting control valve when it was released and dumped the fluid back into the sump when it was pressed down. Your symptoms could have different causes depending on which transmission it has.

it is a gas engine it starts to heat up when l first start it after about 15/20min it is boiling
the transmission has a gear lever on the left side 2,1,3 and 2 reverse gears on the top and 4,5,6 on bottom with two more reverse
to the right is a hi/lo lever

How full are you filling the radiator? If you are filling it up to near the top of the upper tank, then the coolant is being forced out simply because the pressure build as it warms up without actually overheating. Try filling it so that the level of the coolant is just above the tops of the tubes.

That is the 6x4 manual reversing transmission, which just has a normal manual clutch. The clutch linkage from the pedal to the shaft might just need to be adjusted. Get yourself a copy of the Operator's Manual for the proper procedure for adjusting it.
