I recently bought a ford 3600 diesel with a live pto, and can’t get the pto to disengage and can’t get the pto lever to fully travel forward for the disengaged position. At first I thought there was an issue with the linkage and got a chance to look at, as well as change the rear pto seal due to another issue I encountered. I had to remove the top lid off the hydraulics and so while I was at it I went ahead and changed all the components that you typically would. With the pto shaft out of the tractor I tried the pto lever and it would move completely as it should. Once I reinstalled the pto shaft I went to try and disengage the pto and had the same problem with the lever not wanting to travel forward completely. It’s almost as if the pto shaft is too long or I have an issue with the transmission countershaft being too far back. I am just wondering if any one has had an issue like this before and if I’m over thinking what’s happening?
