Ford 3600 Steering issues

How does it steer? Does the power assist actually assist it, or does it steer like it's got manual steering? If you staked the nut when it was too tight, then the control valve can't do it's job because the column isn't moving up and down enough, and that could possibly be contributing to an over pressure situation that is causing the seal to leak.

Its just as possible he did not tighten it enoufh but I doubt its the nut adjustment. What was the condition of the steering shaft where the top seal runs. Did he install a repair sleeve.
