Ford 3910 injection pump?

RTC3910

All I have a 3910 with I believe to be a cav pump. I was mowing with it the other day and had the mower load up heavily. Shortly after that I shut the tractor down to inspect mower and now the tractor will not start. I am suspecting the injection pump due to the lack of fuel pressure to the injectors. It drips out as if the injector pump is not operating correctly. I have bled it and verified fule to the pump. Only thing I can think is the pump has went bad.

The metering valve MIGHT be stuck in the fuel off position. Let it cool off and then try it again with the throttle set about 1/2 open. If it still won't start find a heavy wrench and tap the pump hydraulic head BETWEEN two outlet banjos 6-10 times. I've done this before to get one freed up and working again a few times. If there's ANY traces of water in fuel or Bio diesel this may not help and pump will need to come off for repair. It's possible the cam ring/shoes and rollers could be worn badly too.

Thanks dieseltech. I hadn't thought about tapping on it. Fuel looked good,

So, tapped on the pump, the top cover. Tractor started, now my cover is leaking. Suspect my tapping dislodged the gasket and now I have to replace the gaasket. Better than having to replace the pump. Hopefully I can do it in place.

Tap on the HYDRAULIC HEAD, NOT the top cover! That two stud cover design was not smart to begin with...

I didn't tap on it to hard, but it is leaking badly now. Plan to replace the gasket for that cover. Thanks Dieseltech.
Any tips on cover removal and repair. Plan on replacing the orings while I have the cover off.
