ford 4000 hp

what is the horse power of a 1962 ford 4000 with a 4 cylinder gas engine? external_link says 55 hp, but i've seen them advertised on-line, anywhere from 39hp to 55hp. i'm thinking about getting one to help my 8n keep up the ranch.

Here is the tractor data link you refer to. As you can see the engine is rated at 55 hp but by the time you use up some of that horsepower to drive the transmission and accessories you only have 41 hp remaining at the drawbar. Most people talk about the drawbar horsepower because that's the useful power available to pull an implement.

About 48+ PTO HP with gear transmissions. About 46+ PTO HP with S-O-S.

I have a very good 51 8N with a Sherman combo as well as a good 55 860, a good 64 4000 S-O-S gas and a 961-5 gas (among others).

Although I love my 8N and it is just right for some jobs, any of the other mentioned tractors will do twice the work as the 8N.
