Ford 4000 Instrument cluster

Hi

Does anyone have a clearly readable wiring diagram for a 1967 4000 (UK version). The one in my manuals are not clear and the current wiring appears to be badly messed up. Burns out bulbs very quickly.

fortracfan, I don't have a good one either. So if you find one, please let me know as I had mice eat up my wiring so my glowplugs and lights have nothing, and my fuel gauge doesn't work. Sorry for no answers but maybe we'll both find one from someone else on this board. I have a '66 UK 4000.

The light circuit is pretty simple - you have a live from your key switch to the light switch. The first position has a double red wire on it to operate the rear lights and the marker lights if fitted. Second position has a blue and white wire that goes directly to the headlamp (low beam). Third position has a black and red wire that again goes directly to the headlamp as well but this time to the high beam. I cant give you terminal numbers as it depends on whether your switch is original or not - mine isn't its a copy and has no terminal numbers. I worked out the terminals using a multimeter.
The fuel gauge is a bit different - its a Ford so its temperamental and prone to not working even if its all wired correctly. Essentially you have a wire from the sender unit on the top of the tank to the outside terminal of the fuel gauge. The other side of the gauge goes to a voltage regulator (i dont understand the purpose or the wiring of this). The live feed for this then comes from the starter key switch.
