Ford 4000 Model

I just purchased what I thought was a Ford 4000 tractor, however it seems to be very wide for the 2000-3000-4000 series. The model number off the frame is M4000K205. The back tires measure 92 inches from the outside.

What the heck is it?

Also I want to mount an engine driven hydraulic pump on the front of the engine but this one has a standard bolt. Can I replace it so a spline shaft can be put in?

Also the serial number starts with an A instead of a C as the other models do.

My books are in the shop so I will have to get back tomorrow. C was for the 3000 as I recall. There were more than one 4000. The later models which came out prior to the 4500, 4600 and 4610's were 50 hp tractors rather than 40 hp tractors of the earlier years, and 7 1/2 feet on the rears wasn't out of the question especially if it was running 16.9 x 34ish tires.

They have adjustable tread, so it sounds like yours has simply been adjusted to near it's maximum width. (depnding on tire sizes, I think 96" might be the max.) Where did you get that model number? The model, serial, and unit number are stamped on a flat area just above and to the rear of the starter. Could start with an "A", "B", or "C", depending on if it was built in Antwerp, Basildon, or the U.S.
There is an adaptor that bolts to the front pulley hub for running a front-mounted hydraulic pump. I think it's available from this site. (click on 'tractor parts' on the top left of the page.)

Numbers for 2000 & 3000 series for 1986 started with BA and 4000 series in 1987 used BB. Those were only some years and they went back to C in front on later ones or other years. Didn't see A in front of any for any years on 2,3 & 4000 listings.

Where did you get your information? 2000, 3000, 4000 were built from '65 to '75. (and the prior model, 4-cylinder 2000 and 4000 were '62 to '64) Mid to late '80's would put you in series 10 or 10 II production.
