ford 4000 select o speed

Which 4000 did you get- the '62-'64 4 cylinder model or the '65 and later 3 cylinder? Manuals are available in the top left corner of this webpage. Just click on Tractor Manuals under Marketplace.

I assume you want a shop manual. You can get a brand new manual directly from CNH. Order publication number 40060090 from the link below. It will be around a 100 bucks with shipping.

Since you have an SOS, I don't recommend that you buy a reprint or an old original manual. This edition should have the updated SOS chapter in color.

Yes, you can buy an IT manual for a fraction of the price. You get what you pay for.

We call our little bit of heaven Crosswinds Farm also. Where are you at. We always have a breeze here. Appreciate it most of the summer and hate it come winter.

Should have mentioned we are outside Gettysburg, PA. We are probably best described as horse hobbyists. My daughter does the hunter/jumper stuff at local shows. She wants to really "campaign" the next couple of years since she saved up a bunch of her own money and bought a pretty nice warmblood. We will see, all I know is the horse trailer I had was too small for this guy, so we had to go out and make a serious upgrade. Now I need a bigger truck.

On the early 4000 4 cylinder tractors, the model and serial numbers are stamped on top of the bell housing just behind the starter.

The top number, 41105, calls the model and options. The first number, 4, designates a 172 cubic inch engine. The second number, 1, designates agricultural and industrial models built after December 31, 1962. The next two numbers, 10, designate row crop ag tractor. The final number, 5, designates a Select-O-Speed transmission with 540 PTO shaft.

The second number is the serial number and would put your tractor somewhere around August of '63 for a production date.
