Ford 4000 steering leaks

I have a 4 cylinder gas Ford 4000. I keep getting
leaks on the 1/4 lines either the fittings on the
column or cracks in the lines. I. Have replaced
the lines with brake line material. Was that the
wrong thing to do?

Hard lines have a tendency to fail due to vibration - The brake line will definitely take the pressure but I wouldn't be surprised if they also develop a leak some time down the road - And it will be a time that you really need the tractor ;-)
