Ford 4000 Transmission ?

I just bought a 1962 Ford 4000. On the dash it has a sign - Over/under transmission. Shifter looks like a regular 4 speed . There is a shifter on the left side of transmission that is broke off. I can repair it , but I dont know what it should be like or how it works.
Any help or advise? Thanks in advance.

The tractor probably had a sherman combo transmisson in it. Look on the left side of the bell housing rearward of the starter. There should be a hole. Shine a light in and see if you can see the sherman. If not someone has probably robbed it out of there and reinstalled a main shaft in its place.

It appears as if your tractor has the optional Sherman combination transmission.

Replacement handles are available from Red Rock Manufacturing.

here's a pic of my 63, 4000 rowcrop, you can see the combo shifter on the side of the bellhousing.. that's what yours should have looked like.

also.. here's a pic of a shifter handle that john smith has for sale.. even better pic...
