Ford 4000 wheel width

I have an old Ford 4000 with 16.9 - 28 tires. The rim is corroded and needs replaced. I'm not having any luck finding used rim and tires. Ebay has them decent priced but I'm not sure which to order. What size of wheel would I order? Are there multiple sizes it could be? Do I need to take the tire off first and measure?

Which specific "old 4000" is it? That wheel looks like it might be from an industrial 4 cylinder 4000. Technically, you can buy any size wheels and tires if you are replacing everything. If you want to keep the wheel centers, then you are more limited in the rims, but if you are replacing the tires as well as the rims you can still opt for various widths. If you want to go with the same size rims, measure the ones that are on there. I would think that if it has 16.9x28 tires, the rims would have to be 12x28. The Operators Manual has all of the various wheel and tire sizes that were offered for it back when it was new.

original jb weld em... slather it on... if you wanna get fancy get some thin set to hammer into the shape on top the rot then slather it on...

if its rotted around the stem hole... digi caliper the stem hole as you can as accurate.... slather it over the dead hole...

drill a new hole on a healthier section... stick a air/liquid valve stem on it tr618 i think... ch3 version... rust primer it all and paint...

quick way to bead the tire back on at home with a 70dollar 5 gallon air blaster bead tool...

12x28 is the standard size for your tractor but it would have came with 13.6-28 tires, 14.9-28’s look good on those tractors, 16.9-28’s are fairly wide for that rim but they do offer a 15x28 rim for those wider tires
