Ford 4000 year?

I just bought a Ford 4000 with the 3 cylinder diesel. Was told it is a 1967. I'd like to confirm what year it really is as I think it could be anywhere between 65-67.

Unfortunately the serial tag on the inside of the hood is in poor condition and the serial number part is the worst. I found numbers on the bellhousing but the don't match anything I can find.

I've loaded some pictures on a Epson photo album.

If you tell the New Holland parts people you have a 3cyl. Ford 4000, ser. no. B842430 (this is a 'built in England' tractor), they should be able to look in the parts 'book' and tell you for sure what year it was built.

Something is strange here.
Your production code- 6M8B- translates to Dec 8,1966, day shift.
Your model number-51014E- translates to 5000, Ag, Diesel, Independent 540 RPM PTO, SOS Trans. You obviously do not have a 5000 and your SOS is definitely not out of a 5000. The 5000 SOS does not have the top cover with the hump- in fact the 5000 SOS does not have a top cover at all- it is on the bottom of the trans.
Whomever stamped the model code stamped it incorrectly- it should have been 41014E.

I just noticed that the data decal under the hood is marked 41014?. 41014E is correct for your tractor.

Thanks!

Still don't know the year for sure. Appears that part of it was done in December 1966, but don't know if that makes it a model year 1967 or 1966.

If it was made in England in December of 1966, I doubt it would have been sold in the U.S. until 1967.

So... was Ford building 4000 tractors both in the U.S. and in England at the same time? Were they sold by different dealerships? i.e. Where there New Holland dealerships selling the English version and Ford dealerships sell the U.S. made ones?

Oops!
My last reply ended up where I didn't expect it.
Looks like it will take a little learning on my part to get the postings and replies right on this forum.

As far as I know, only U.S. built 4000"s were sold new in the U.S. In recent years, shippers have been bringing used European tractors over here for resale. Some parts are different than on U.S. built models and I don"t know about time-lag on getting these parts from overseas. I"m sure you"re NH dealer can inform you about any questions you may have. Good luck.

I don't know for sure but I was told that in 1967 the Ford tractor factory in the US went on strike and in that year Ford Tractor's England plant sent tractors over to the US. I also have a Ford 4000 3cyl diesel with a 'B' serial #. the tractor is standard, not metric. I bought the tractor in 1990 from a farm family that claims they bought it new.
