I have a Ford 4000 64 model four cylinder. It runs fine until I shut it off hot ( normal temp not over heating ). I have to wait about an hour before it will start back up. Any ideas of what might be the problem?

any time you have a no start problem, check spark FIRST.

if you have spark.. then move on to fuel.

post back.

Check the fuel tank for a vacuum condition, shut it down and then remove the filler cap, if you hear air enter yo might need to vent the tank, then attempt a re-start.
next check for a suction fuel line leak, when a line is hot it expands and may leak air, breaking the suction, then when cold the line contracts, and can close allowing suction to draw fuel to pump.
You can pressurise the fuel tank carefully right after an attempt to re-start ( couple psi only ) to see if that allows a re-start.

Check the fuel filter gasket.
How much cranking is needed to re-start ?

Sounds like the pump hydraulic head getting enough wear when hot that internal leaks are causing hard starting when hot. A reseal and parts inspection may help. Also make sure starter hand battery are in top shape too.
Pump may be good but if cranking speed is low you will still have hot starting trouble.

I had that problem. If I poured some water over it, it would start right up. After the end of the season I sent it to Dieseltech. now it starts right up cold or hot.
