Hey guys,
I recently drug home an old Ford 420 industrial, and an hoping to get some help putting a date on it. The foil tag is still there under the hood, and here's the numbers:

Tractor - C532384
Model - KD212K
Unit - 7B25B
Engine - 7A05A
Trans - 7A21B
Axle - 7A11C
Hydro - 6L22B
Lift - 7A24A

I've looked all over Google but can't find a serial number list for the post-1975 years.

Model Number KD212K is a 420 with a diesel engine, live PTO and a 6x4 manual reversing transmission. The 420 was made from 1975-1978.

The Tractor Number is the serial number. C532384 is a 1977 serial number. If you view this forum in Classic View there is a link on th eleft that says "Serial Numbers". That will take you to a list of serial numbers later than 1975. Tractordata.com lists them as well.

The Unit Number is a code for the date that the tractor left the assembly line. 7B25B is February 25 1977 during th eday shift.

The rest of the numbers are date codes for the assembly of the various major components:

Engine - 7A05A - January 5 1977 midnight shift

Trans - 7A21B - January 21 1977 day shift

Axle - 7A11C - January 11 1977 afternoon shift

Hydro - 6L22B (I assume this is the hydraulic pump) November 22 1976 day shift

Lift - 7A24A - (I assume this is the hydraulic lift) January 24 1977 midnight shift

Havent seen live pto with 6x4 trans. custom baler worked for we used 420 6x4 as loader tractor and backup for square baler.

Thanks a bunch, Sean. I did find the serial number list after you mentioned it. I was viewing the site in Modern View so that would explain why I never saw it.
