ford 4400 head bolts

Good afternoon

Looking for the length on 1966 Ford 4400 201 head bolt lengths. Almost have the engine back together and I cant locate the head bolts. There are a total of 14 1/2 Bolts (10 Short, 4 Long).

The problem in running into is they want over $600.00 for replacement bolts. I believe i'm going to go with grade 8 or ARP I just need to know the length t oorder.

Just get those sizes from caterpillar for a heck or a lot

"Almost have the engine back together" sounds like you are the one that took it apart. You don't have the old bolts to measure?

The parts drawing only mentions one size, 1/2''-13 x 4.75", and it calls for 10 of those. I don't see a mention of 4 other shorter ones.

The part number for the 4.75" long bolts is 83907721, and the parts site says the price for them is $22.00 each, so that would be $220 for 10 of them, nowhere near $600.

If you were quoted a price, they should at least have given you the part number for the 4 shorter ones. If you post that back here I can hunt around on the internet for you to see if I can find the size of those, and what the price is for them. It might not be until Monday though as I will be away from my computer for most of the weekend.

There is no 4 shorter ones, there are 4 longer one that go through the rocker stands

NH lists the 7.8 inch ones at $157.50 for 2 and he needs 4.

Just go to boltdepot.com and buy some grade
8 bolts. If they don't have the correct
lengths try McMaster Carr.
As to the lengths you need, with the head
gasket in place and head set on the block use
a piece of wire or rod and measure the depth
of the holes.
This is not the lunar lander you are working
on.

Since Ford 3/4/6 cylinder tractor engines built from 1965 to 1986 all use the same bolts, I would think good used bolts would not be difficult to find

Good afternoon,
I want to thank everyone for there help. Long story short I located the bolts. The motor is being assembled at my buddies garage/shop and He employees a couple of kids on the weekends to help him and keep the shop clean, They moved my tub of bolts out to the shed.

(14) Head Bolt Washer Part # F377490S = Case Hardened
(4) Head Bolt Part # FD5NN6065D = 13x 1/2"x 7.8 long
